Shark Tag Casing
Organization:
Duke Marine Lab
Project Description:
The goal of this project was to design a tracking tag that could attach to a rough-skinned marine animal non-invasively (without piercing the skin) and release after a pre-determined time period. Our team designed an adhesive+suction cup attachment mechanism with a spring-rlease mechanism that was activated after plastic rods dissolved in water. The length of time was controlled by the diameter of the rod.
What I Learned:
This was my first engineering project at Duke, and I learned a lot about the dynamics of working on an engineering team and utilizing each member's skillsets in the most efficient way. I also learned a lot about general design and prototyping processes during this project.
