Project Description:
The goal of my summer internship was to work on a pose detection AI model that could be incorporated into a trail camera to detect abnormalities in an animal's gait or identify behaviors for animal research. I used a software package call DeepLabCut and introduced my own python scripts in order to enhace the reinforcement training of the algorithm
What I Learned:
I came into this position with very little coding experience after my original plans were cancelled due to Covid. As a result, I believe the most important skill I gained from this internship was the adaptability necessary to contribute to a project that I had no experience in. I had to be very self-aware of my abilities and proactive about spending outside time to fill any gaps in my understanding.
